History of Oumi Tsuchiyama Tea
■Introduction to oumi tea

Oumi tea has the longest history of all Japanese tea.
Seeds were brought to Japan from Tang Dynasty China
1200 years ago by Saicho,
a monk of Enryakuji Temple on Mount Hiei.
The seeds were planted and Japan’s culture of tea drinking
began.
Soil and climate conditions were good and our ancestors
carefully protected the spirit of the tea using
traditional techniques to maintain the richness and flavor.
